Foot Reflexology

Foot reflexology is probably the form of reflexology most people have heard of — and for good reason. At ZEST Therapeutic Reflexology in North Abingdon, Oxfordshire, I offer 60-minute foot reflexology sessions that can help with everything from sleep problems and tension to general wellbeing. It’s one of several types of reflexology I practise.

Professional foot reflexology treatment

What Is Foot Reflexology?

It’s a gentle, non-invasive therapy. I apply specific pressure techniques to reflex points on the feet, and each of those points maps to an organ, gland, or other area of the body. Working those points sends signals through the nervous system that can help the body settle, recalibrate, and start working more efficiently on its own.

Your feet have over 7,000 nerve endings. That’s why they’re so responsive to touch — and why a foot session can affect the whole body. Clients often notice changes in their headaches, digestion, anxiety and sleep, and circulation after just one or two sessions.

Benefits of Foot Reflexology

  • Stress & anxiety relief — It’s deeply relaxing. Your nervous system quiets down and cortisol levels tend to drop
  • Better sleep — This is one of the things clients mention most — they sleep more soundly after regular sessions
  • Pain management — Helpful for headaches, migraines, and general muscular tension
  • Digestive comfort — Working the relevant reflex points can ease bloating, sluggishness, and discomfort
  • Circulation — The pressure techniques get blood flowing more freely through the body
  • Hormonal support — Particularly helpful during menopause, menstruation, and pregnancy
  • Energy & Qi flow — Clients often describe feeling “unblocked” or lighter after a session, as energy moves more freely

What to Expect During a Session

We’ll start with a short chat about your health history and anything you’d like me to focus on. Then you settle into a comfortable reclined position and I work through the reflex points on both feet using thumb and finger pressure.

Most people relax deeply during the treatment. Some points may feel tender — that’s normal, and it tells me something useful about what’s going on in your body. Afterwards, I’ll share what I noticed and give you some simple aftercare tips. Drink plenty of water. Rest if you can.

Who Can Benefit from Foot Reflexology?

I treat people of all ages — children, teenagers, adults, older clients. If you’re dealing with stress, struggling to sleep, going through hormonal changes, or just want an hour to properly switch off, it’s worth trying. I also offer specialist maternity reflexology for clients during pregnancy and postpartum.
